When is it?
The SEVA48HR will officially take place between Friday, November 2 at 7:00pm and Sunday, November 4 at 7:00pm. All creative production must take place during this period.
Who can participate?
All cast and crew must be volunteers, including pets/animals.
Films that result in severe injury, the death or mutilation of any cast, crew, or animal may be disqualified.
What production elements can we use?
All footage and animation must be shot within the Official Time Period of the project.
Photography or stock footage or footage shot or created at another time may be used as a post-production effect or on a background monitor, i.e., a television, as long as the team has rights to the media.
What about Music?
Go for it! But participating groups must have the rights to any original or pre-produced music used in its film and must provide releases for all music used.
How long can my film be?
The finished film's story must be between 6 to 9 minutes— opening and end credits do not count. That said, SEVA48HR reserves the right to accept films outside this duration, so make sure it's good enough to change our minds!
What are the Required On-screen Elements?
Required elements (such as a genre, a character, a prop and/or a line of dialogue) will be announced on November 2nd prior to the official time period and must appear in the film,
What else is required?
Before the finished film begins, the media should have...
5 seconds of a title card with: team name, title, genre, city, and date
A title card with: This film was made for the SEVA48HR
2 seconds of black
You must include one of the following:
"YOUR TEAM NAME presents" immediately followed by
"a film made for SEVA48HR
End Credit should not be longer than 60 seconds. SEVA48HR reserves the right to shorten any end credits that exceed the maximum length for screening purposes.
The end credits must include the words: This film was made for the SEVA48HR.
Submission Requirements and Notes
Your film must be submitted by one of the following media:
self-contained HD (1920x1080) Quicktime file with no proprietary codecs.
h.264, youtube, vimeo codecs acceptable.
your film must UPLOADED to the official determined site.
We understand not everyone has ultra high-speed internet connection, so the participating team's completed work must begin the process of uploading by Sunday by 7:00pm, to a site location to be announced.
SEVA48HR reserves the right to even out the audio and the brightness of the film for screening purposes.
All films received on the evening of the deadline will be judged, presuming they meet the eligibility requirements.
Releases for talent, crew, music and locations (and any other applicable releases), which must be turned in to the project organizers with the finished film/video. The film/video will not be screened before the SEVA48HR Organizers receive the signed releases.
Release forms shall be sent to each team prior to the start of the competition.
Eligibility in a nutshell
SEVA48HR reserves the right to make the final determination as to which Entries are eligible, and the right to alter a film in order to remove or delete offensive or defamatory content.
Your work must be original
must not infringe third-party's rights
may not be obscene or indecent
must not contain the overuse of foul language
must not contain obscene or pornographic material
may not contain defamatory statements about any person, company, organization or entity
may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, company or entity; may not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations
and may not contain any copyrighted elements (other than as owned by the Entrant and/or SEVA48HR).
Just be smart. Think about it, if you're going to make someone very angry with how you go about producing your film, and/or with the content of your film, then it will be highly unlikely that we show your work that will be harmful or hurtful to those parties.
What will get me disqualified?
So, just don't do stupid stuff. Each participating group's film/video production must follow all rules herein. The SEVA48HR Organizers reserve the right to screen only certified Official Film Entries. SEVA48HR and Project Parties may, in their sole discretion, disqualify Entries deemed to be inappropriate or otherwise non-compliant.
Can I share my film on-line?
No distribution of your entry/video in any way prior to it receiving its official SEVA48HR premiere screening. This includes uploading the video to any website or screening the film for groups of anyone other than the team.

All certified Official Film Entries are eligible to compete for the Best-of categories including Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing of the SEVA48HR.
